Everything's ready for the 2nd International Forum on Child Road Safety (FISEVI) in Santiago de Chile

The 2nd International Forum on Child Road Safety (FISEVI) will take place between June 16 and 17, 2016 in Santiago de Chile. Organized by Fundación Gonzalo "Gonchi" Rodríguez (FGR), its partners feature Britax, FIA Foundation, Isa Intervial and Fundación MAPFRE. Furthermore, it is sponsored by UPS and many other collaborators and counts with institutional support. The Forum brings together more than 30 road safety experts from around the world.

The issues to be addressed at FISEVI are part of the five pillars proposed by the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety and will focus on our youngest family members. 

PRESENTATIONS ON JUNE 16:

The Forum will be inaugurated on June 16, addressing "Road Safety Management", moderated by Soames Job, Lead of the World Bank Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF). Participants include Gabriela Rosende, Executive Secretary of the National Road Safety Committee (CONASET) in Chile; Adrián Bringa, General Executive Secretary of the National Road Safety Unit (UNASEV) in Uruguay; and Yazmín Gaitán Rodríguez, General Manager of the National Safety Agency in Colombia, among others.

This opening is followed by the presentation "Safer Roads and Mobility", moderated by Alberto Escobar, Public Affairs Manager of the Automobile Club in Chile (ACCHI). Interventions feature, among others, Julio Urzúa, Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of iRAP (International Road Assessment Program) of Chile; René Verdejo Barraza, National Director of the Ministry of Public Works of the Road Safety Department of Chile; Lara García, Coordinator of Urban Mobility and Accessibility of the World Resources Institute (WRI) of Brazil.

The day concludes with the topic "Safer Vehicles," moderated by Jessica Truong, Program Director and Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific for Global NCAP in the United Kingdom. Speakers include Alejandro Furas, General Secretary for the Latin NCAP in Uruguay and Juan Ramos García, Industrial Engineer in Switzerland. 

PRESENTATIONS ON JUNE 17:

June 17 highlights the presentation of a study on school transportation, its current situation and opportunities for improvement, by Florencia Lambrosquini, Research Coordinator for Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez and Shane O’Connor, Communications Advisor for FedEx. 

The talks will start off focusing on "Safer Road Users", moderated by Saul Bilingsley, Director General of the FIA Foundation in the United Kingdom. Participants are: Jesús Monclús González, Accident Prevention and Road Safety Manager at Fundación MAPFRE; Kate Carr, CEO of Safe Kids USA; Kyran Quinlan, of the American Academy of Pediatrics, USA and Rafael Ruiz Estepa, Local Police Officer at Puente Genil in Córdoba, Spain, among others. 

The closing presentation "Post crash response" is moderated by Roberto del Águila, Consultant of the Pan-American Health Organization in Chile. Participants addressing this issue will include Jeanne Piccard, President of the Ibero-American Federation of Victims' Associations Against Road Violence (FICVI); Gary Smith, Director of the Center for Injury Research and Policy of The Research Institute at the Nationwide Children's Hospital in the USA; and Claudia Rodríguez, Director of the Association of Victims in Chile.
