USING A CRS
In certain cases the airlines allow the use of a car child seat to protect a minor on a flight. However in Europe, babies up to 2 years of age must travel on the knee of an adult using an additional safety belt. From then on it is possible to use a restraining system so long as the country in question authorizes it. The regulations in Europe are unified under the norm. ECE R44 to ensure they are certified for sale in Europe. This facilitates the use of an approved seat throughout Europe. The approval of seats in the USA is different which may mean buying another seat approved for use there.
To clarify any doubts about which seats are valid for use ring the airline in question or look for information on their website. Using an additional safety device can only mean a safer journey for your child so we recommend you make adequate preparations and take every precaution.
