VIDEO – Classification of child restraining systems

At the moment we are going through a period of change towards the new i-Size regulations (ECE129), which leave behind the classifications according to weight, that used to define the child restraining system groups, known as Group 0 to Group 3 (ECE R44/04), it is therefore worth going over these changes, as they may come as a surprise to us when it comes to choosing a child restraining system.

With the i-Size regulations, which are now in a process of change, it is the manufacturer that will establish in their instruction manual, and a label on the seat, specific to each model, the maximum size and weight for which they should be used. Also, the seats sold under these new regulations provide security in the knowledge that they have passed a side impact test, which up until now was not required.
