Statistics help us to understand the percentage of accidents that happen and act effectively. According to UNICEF, 250,000 children and adolescents are killed in road traffic accidents and another 10 million are seriously injured. In many member countries within the Organization for Economic Development and Co-operation (OECD), traffic accidents are the principal cause of death in in minors under the age of 15.
Half between 1984 and 2000 has reduced the number of children killed in traffic accidents within those member countries. However one child in every 2100 will die in a road traffic accident before reaching 15 years of age
In Spain the numbers are less but still have a devastating effect on many families.
